SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------

Linux: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04,
    Ubuntu 22.04, and compatible distributions.

The Hugin GUI application is bundled with OpenJDK 17 and has no
dependency on Java being installed on your system.

INSTALLATION
------------

This software distribution consists of a single directory,
HUGIN_DIST_64.<platform>, containing all files (except the license
file) necessary to use the Hugin software. When you unpacked the
distribution, you created this directory. The README file you are
currently reading is placed in this directory.

 1. Installing the files. A common choice is to install in /usr/local.
Assuming there is no HUGIN_DIST_64.<platform> directory in /usr/local,
    unpack the distribution tar-file there.

	% cd /usr/local
	% tar -jxvf HUGIN_DIST_64.<platform>.tar.bz2

You may want to rename the HUGIN_DIST_64.<platform> directory. A common
choice is to name it "hugin". Assuming there is no file or directory
    in /usr/local named "hugin":

	% mv HUGIN_DIST_64.<platform> hugin

 2. Define the environment variable HUGINHOME.

In order to use this software, you must tell it where to find the
license file. You do this by setting the HUGINHOME environment
variable in your shell startup file.

If you are using the C-shell, insert the following line in the
".cshrc" file in your home directory.

	setenv HUGINHOME <path-to-directory-containing-the-license-file>

A common choice is to place the license file in the root directory of
the Hugin installation (e.g., /usr/local/hugin, if that choice was made
in step 1), but any directory can be chosen.

If you are using a shell compatible with the Bourne shell (e.g., Bash),
insert the following lines in the shell startup file:

	HUGINHOME=<path-to-directory-containing-the-license-file>
	export HUGINHOME

The "sh" and "ksh" shells use "$HOME/.profile" as the startup file; and
the "bash" shell uses "$HOME/.bashrc" as the startup file.

 3. Install the license file.

The license file is supplied separately from this software. This file
must be named "LICENSE-9.8" and must be placed in the directory named
    by the HUGINHOME environment variable.

 4. Hugin GUI application.

For your convenience, add the "bin" directory to your search path
by editing your shell settings of the "path" variable.

This will make it easier to launch the Hugin GUI application from
    anywhere in your environment.
